Spotlight on Innovation...

Innovation is a key priority for NHS Supply Chain to help improve patient outcomes.

We work with clinicians and suppliers to provide customers with the latest and most innovative products on the market.

Our experience and expertise in healthcare procurement means that NHS Supply Chain is uniquely positioned to:

  • Anticipate product, clinical and logistic need
  • Recognise what makes a product or service innovative
  • Develop service innovations that support front line and back office staff, saving time and money.

Our proactive approach enables our procurement teams to make innovative products and services quickly and easily available to the whole NHS.

How we innovate

How do we innovate?

Innovation Scorecard is an online tool that allows suppliers to submit innovative products for contract consideration.

Funded by the NHS National Institute for Innovation & Improvement via the National Innovation Centre, the tool takes suppliers through 16 questions which help us establish how innovative the product is.

Our end-to-end process allows innovations to be fast-tracked and made available to the NHS in a much shorter time than traditional routes.

If the innovation process is successful, the product will be made available nationally and will be highlighted in our catalogue as innovative with the innovation bulb icon. innovation-bulb

Once innovations are available to order, we can monitor sales, track adoption and speed of up take by trusts across the country.
