  • As previously advised, the NCP Ultrasound Gel IMS products had an anticipated July launch date.
  • We can confirm that IMS products will be available to order on Monday 9 July 2018.
  • There has been a change to the NCP launch date for NCP Ultrasound Gel.
  • Fannin and Optimum products will now become available to order on 25 June 2018.
  • IMS products are now anticipated to become available to order in July. We will keep you informed of the date as soon as possible.

Background:

  • Nationally Contracted Products (NCP) initiative is strategically co led by NHS Improvement and the Department of Health and is being operationalised by the NHS Business Services Authority through NHS Supply Chain.
  • NCP is a procurement tool that aims to implement the Carter Report recommendations to harness the national buying power of the NHS, remove “unwarranted product variation” and improve efficiency. The initiative is focused on driving savings through reducing variety at a sub category level and channelling national commitment to this reduced product range.
  • A new procurement exercise was carried out for Ultrasound Gels to create a stand-alone contract for a minimum period of 12 months as they fell across two frameworks Electrodes, Gels and Related Consumables and Sexual Health.

Impact:

  • IMS Euro has been awarded as the supplier for 20-25ml Non–Sterile Sachet.
  • Optimum Medical Solutions has been awarded as the supplier for 20ml Sterile Sachet.
  • Fannin UK Ltd has been awarded as the supplier for 250–260ml Bottle and 5L Container.
  • As of 25 June 2018, the products of the following unsuccessful suppliers will be delisted from the online catalogue for a minimum period of 12 months:

  • The NCP products will become available to order on 25 June 2018.
  • There are potential national savings of £308,000 (45%).

  • For information on trust specific savings opportunities please contact your Account Manager. Trust Impact Statements were made/will be available in the week commencing 30 April 2018.
  • Central updates will be carried out to the relevant favourites lists, standing orders and eDC requirements to ensure a smooth transition and enable savings to be immediately realised. Please refer to ICN 232 for more details of this.
