Change:                          

  • The supplier Johnson and Johnson Limited has informed us of a supply issue with its Lot 2 Energy Devices products.
  • The supply issue is due to reduced manufacturing capabilities due to the availability of Viant Blades and Tubes Constraints which are required in the production process.
  • 1 product code is affected FGE9514 – Laparoscopic Energy Device HARMONIC 1100 SHEARS 36CM.
  • FGE9514 is currently under regional allocation by Johnson and Johnson.
  • Order quantities may be reduced.
  • FGE8448 – Laparoscopic instruments HARMONIC HD 1000I SHEARS 36CM has been reinstated in the online catalogue temporarily while the issue with FGE9514 is ongoing.
  • It is advised that customers approach suppliers for details and advice requirements for their generator and consumables when deciding on alternatives.

Impact:             

  • The affected product code is currently subject to intermittent supply.
  • The alternatives have been approved by Johnson and Johnson along with the Clinical Implementation Manager for Minimally Invasive Surgery.
  • It is advised that where customers seek alternatives from other ultrasonic advanced energy devices suppliers, the corresponding suppliers generator will be required to drive the device.
  • Where customers already have other suppliers generators in their operating theatres and suitable numbers of them, this may be a viable option.
  • Customers are advised to approach suppliers of alternative devices for education, training and support where required.
