- The supply issue is anticipated to be resolved by 17 March 2023.
- The supplier Baxter Healthcare has informed us that a number of products which are listed as indirect alternatives for this supply issue are now subject to supply constraints.
- The following product codes are currently suspended and unavailable to order.
- FSB1884, FSB1880, FKA011, FSB1247 and FKA344.
- Two product codes are currently subject to Protect Demand Management:
- FSB2659, and FSB1185.
- The product codes are available to order through NHS Supply Chain. However, trusts are allocated a maximum daily quantity aka “threshold” to ensure fair supply of available stock across the NHS.

- The supplier Baxter Healthcare has informed us of supply issues with an additional product within its range of its Administration Sets. There are now seven codes affected.
- FSB1244 (MPC MMC9609L) Administration sets for pump and gravity Colleague pumps Pump/gravity blood administration set flexible double chamber with ball valve 200um filter rotary luer with hydrophobic cap 225cm date/time label is now suspended and is subject to Control Demand Management. This will need to be ordered via the Control Suspended Consumables Product Submission Webform.
- The supplier has advised us that at this time there are no alternatives available for customers using NPC FSB1244 (MPC MMC9609L) with the Evo IQ and Colleague LVP infusion pumps.
- The supplier has advised that in order to protect supply please only use NPC FSB1244 (MPC MMC9609L) blood pump administration sets in the Baxter Evo IQ and Colleague infusion pumps when it is absolutely necessary to pump blood. Please use a gravity blood administration sets where possible and when only gravity infusion is required.
- The expected resolution for the supply of all affected codes is as follows:
- FSB998, FSB1244, FSB1117 and FSB85012 – mid January 2023
- FSC092 and FSB689 – February 2023
- FSB1941 – March 2023.

Change:
- The supplier Baxter Healthcare has informed us of supply issues with a range of its Administration Sets.
- There are six product codes affected.
- This is due to an issue with the labelling of these products which has led to a supply disruption.
- There is a potential for Clinical and / or Patient Safety impacts as a result of this issue.
Impact:
- The affected product codes are currently suspended.
- One of the suspended products, FSC092, is subject to Control Demand Management.
- The potential indirect alternatives may be subject to Protect Demand Management.
- The product listing has been updated with the demand management status of each product:
- Control – These products are unavailable to order as they are subject to Control Demand Management. If you have an urgent clinical need for any of the suspended codes and have not been able to source them through the Mutual Aid process, you need to complete and submit the Control Suspended Consumables Product Submission Webform. - Protect – These products are being threshold managed and are subject to Protect Demand Management. The product codes remain available to order through NHS Supply Chain. However, trusts are allocated a maximum daily quantity “threshold” to ensure fair supply of available stock across the NHS. - Sustain– These products are available to order, however excessive single requests for demand may be subject to Demand Management.
- Any updates to Demand Management or Suspension status of the affected products and their indirect alternatives will be updated on a weekly basis

- The supply issue is anticipated to be ongoing until early 2023.

- We have included a copy of the Information for Clinical Choice (ICC) matrix for IV administration sets where customers can find further details of suitable alternatives. Please note, the listed alternatives in the ICC and product listing may be subject to intermittent supply and a number of these are currently suspended.
- Customers may wish to consider single chamber gravity blood sets as an alternative; however this will be based on local clinical assessment of suitability.
