Supply Issues Multiple Suppliers Blood Collection Winged Set Safety with Holder (ICN 1718)

Important Customer Notice Supply Issues

Ref: 2022/1718 ICN Number: 1718

Change:

  • There is an ongoing supply issue with Blood Collection Winged Set Safety with holder 21G and 23G products from multiple suppliers.
  • There are 28 product codes affected.
  • The supply issue is due to an increase in global demand which had been highlighted in WHO guidance published in November 2021.

Impact:

  • Some of the affected product codes are currently unavailable to order via the online catalogue, whilst other product codes are available to order via demand management, these are highlighted in amber. Customers can request these via the webform, see our Useful Links section.

  • Please see our Downloads section to refer to the product listing for further information on the affected product codes.
  • The ongoing supply issue is anticipated to be resolved between September and November 2022.

  • Where customers are unable to obtain these sets, further suitable alternatives have been identified as follows which are shown on the Product Listing Alternatives tab.
    • Please be aware of the additional information surrounding the following products:
    • Blood Collection Needle Safety with holder 21G (Straight) – This is a straight not winged product, change in clinical practice required
    • Blood Collection Needle Safety with holder 22G (Straight) – This is a straight not winged product, change in clinical practice required
    • Blood Collection Set Safety 21G (Winged) – This is a winged product but does not include a holder, so this component will need to be purchased separately. Luer Adapter may also be required
    • Blood Collection Set Safety 23G (Winged) – This is a winged product but does not include a holder, so this component will need to be purchased separately. Luer Adapter may also be required.
  • There is an additional components tab where we have listed the product codes of the luer adaptors and holders which may be required to be purchased separately dependant on alternative purchased.
  • Customers are advised to log into our website to view the alternative products and to submit a demand capture form should you wish to switch to alternative products.

  • Trusts are reminded that S-Monovette® offered by Sarstedt Limited are not to be used as alternatives against any of the products mentioned on these product listings. Becton Dickinson and Greiner have advised should customers require any additional training or advice their teams will be available to provide support.
