  • The supplier Philips (Respironics) recently informed NHS Supply Chain about their delay in meeting the new ISO18562 requirement for breathing gas pathways, that took effect on 1 April 2022.
  • Consequently, there was a temporary shipping hold on selected products.
  • We have taken immediate action to protect this supply and placed orders on a number of products with the supplier on 31 March 2022 on correctly certified goods. This has enabled NHS Supply Chain to undertake national demand management.
  • Products will be available to order from Monday 16 May 2022.
  • To enable fair and continued supply across the network, orders placed on these products may be subject to demand management.  If the quantity on an order for these products is reduced, customers will be notified of the intervention before delivery is due.
  • Note that some products will only be available via the ICU suspended consumables process/webform.

  • This ICN will be updated with details of products available to order and additional alternatives by the end of next week at the latest.
  • NHS Supply Chain is continuing to work with the supplier Phillips (Respironics), following the supply disruption on a number of products under the Respiratory Framework. • Correctly certified goods are being bought into NHS Supply Chain and suspensions on each of the NPCs will be lifted as deliveries are received.
  • This ICN will be updated with a RAG status added to the product listing, detailing which codes will continue to be suspended and which codes will be available to order.
  • This ICN will be updated by early next week.
  • Please see our Downloads ▼ section to download the letter sent to customers directly from Phillips.

Change:

  • The supplier Philips (Respironics) recently informed NHS Supply Chain about their delay in meeting the new ISO18562 requirement for breathing gas pathways, that takes effect on 1 April 2022.
  • As they work through this issue, they have informed us there is a temporary shipping hold on selected products.
  • We have taken immediate action to protect this supply and are working through the system changes required to enable supply of these products to continue, while Phillips (Respironics) resolve their issue.
  • For a short period of time the affected codes will be suspended, while we bring the correctly certified goods into our stock system to cover this delay period, at which point the suspension will be lifted and they will be available for ordering.
  • There are 172 product codes affected.

Impact:

  • The affected product codes are currently unavailable to order.
  • Potential indirect alternative products are available to order for some of the affected product codes however, we are working closely with the supplier to source further alternatives.
  • The ICN will be updated on a regular basis both with the date to lift the suspension when stock has arrived, the alternatives and the final end date of Phillips (Respironics) releasing the shipping hold.
  • Please see our Downloads ▼ section to refer to the product listing for further information on the affected product codes.
  • Please note that we are expecting further information from Phillips (Respironics) week ending 8 April 2022 in regard to stock availability. As soon as confirmation is received, this ICN will be updated.

Next Steps:

  • Customers are advised to log into our website to view the potential indirect alternative products where possible.
