  • The supplier Smiths Medical International Limited has informed us that the supply issue with its Epidural Kits is ongoing.
  • Four product codes are suspended and unavailable to order:
    • FSQ239, FSQ240 and FYP103 and FYP010.
  • FYP029 is available whilst stock lasts, once the stock is depleted the product code will be delisted and unavailable to order.
  • Seven product codes remain available to order on intermittent supply.
  • 12 product codes remain affected in total.
  • Please note, that the affected product codes will become subject to intermittent supply with the increase in demand.
  • Potential indirect alternative products are available to order through our online catalogue for the affected products. However, some of these products may also become subject to intermittent supply with the increase in demand.

  • Four product codes are now available to order through our online catalogue – FYP023, FYP031, FYP016 and FYP020.

    • FSQ240 – Epidural Kit
    • FYP029 – Epidural Kit.

  • The product listing has been updated to now only highlight in amber which products are suspended and need to be requested via the webform.
  • Due to the disruption in supply, all products (and alternative products) which are on the stocked route are currently under demand management.
  • Four additional product codes are now affected. An additional epidural kit, FYB091, and three Loss of Resistance Syringes, FWC097, FYB865 and FWC192.
  • There are 19 product codes affected in total.

  • This issue has been escalated to be managed nationally by NHS England and Improvement and Department of Health and Social Care. Following further investigation and work with suppliers and clinicians, further information will be issued when available.
  • The supply issue is now anticipated to be resolved by the end of August 2022.
  • Due to the disruption in supply, these products (and alternative products) are currently under demand management.

  • There are 15 product codes affected.
  • This supply issue is due to a supply constraint of the Portex® Loss of Resistance Device to a number of Portex® Epidural and Combined Epidural/Spinal products.
