- The supply issue with Blood Collection Needles from Vygon UK Ltd is continuing.
- One product is no longer subject to Protect Demand Management and is now suspended and unavailable to order:
- FTR223 – Blood Collection Needle Non Safety 21G.
- One product remains subject to Protect Demand Management:
- FTR222 – Blood Collection Needle Non Safety 22G.
- Two products remain affected in total.
- FTR222 is available to order through NHS Supply Chain. However, trusts are allocated a maximum daily quantity or “threshold” to ensure fair supply of available stock across the NHS.
- Potential indirect alternative products are available to order through our online catalogue for the affected product. However, some of these products may also become subject to intermittent supply with the increase in demand.

- There are two product codes affected:
- FTR222 – Blood Collection Needle Non Safety 22G
- FTR223 – Blood Collection Needle Non Safety 21G.
- The supply issue is due to increased demand and lead times.
- Due to this ongoing supply issue these products are now being threshold managed as they are subject to Protect Demand Management.
