Job Title – BI Developer

Function – Business Intelligence (Finance)

Location – Alfreton or Nottingham, with hybrid working options

Type – Permanent (full time, 37.5 hours per week)

Salary – £37,000 – £50,000 per annum

Closing Date – Friday 9th December 2022

 

We have a rare opportunity to join our Business Intelligence team as a Cognos Developer.  

Reporting to the Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a key role in the continued development and support of Business Intelligence solutions within NHS Supply Chain, driving the business towards a culture of data driven decision making and helping users gain valuable insights into the performance of the business.

 

What does a BI Developer do at NHS Supply Chain?

 

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the use of Business Intelligence tools.
  • To support in managing the Business intelligence reporting software and supporting data warehouse.
  • Champion a consistent application of analysis, design and implementation using established processes and techniques.
  • Develop and deliver Business intelligence solutions in accordance with business reporting requirements.
  • Proactively engage with internal stakeholders and collaborate with them to provide insightful data and analysis in a business analysis capacity.
  • Document reporting requirement and report specification documents.
  • Document and assist with the creation of solution design documents.
  • Conduct testing of newly developed solutions and assist users in performing UAT.
  • Assist with the management and resolution of user support tickets.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot reported issues.
  • Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders and issue resolution 

 

What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?  

 

  • Significant specialist experience using IBM Cognos Analytics.
  • Demonstrable development experience within the full IBM Cognos Analytics toolset including Framework Manager.
  • Demonstrable Report studio development experience using both relational and multi-dimensional data.
  • Experience with the development of metadata modelling using Cognos Framework Manager/Cognos Data Modules.
  • Demonstrable experience of SQL (ORACLE/SQL server).
  • Knowledge of Cognos Administration and Security.
  • Experience of BI/Data Warehouse concepts and standards.
  • Experience of gathering and translating data requirements from stakeholders into detailed reporting and technical solutions.
  • To manage own time efficiently to ensure that deadlines on multiple tasks/initiatives are met.
