Job Title: Contracts Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join our finance (Procurement & Estates) team.
What does a Contracts Manager do at NHS Supply Chain?
As Contracts Manager you will: –
Play a key part of the Procurement & Estates team and be responsible to produce supplier contracts, variations, and notices. As a key member of a new team, the Contract Manager will support the development of the process and defining contracting standards to ensure that SCCLs interests are protected.
In this role you will support the Procurement & Estates Team with circa 100 of SCCL’s contracts (examples include but are not limited to Insurance, Professional Services, External Audit, Health and Safety and Estates) by reviewing and commenting on specifications prior to opportunities being advertised, ensuring these are of sufficient depth to make the contract effective.
In this role you will take additional responsibility by supporting the individual contract owners across SCCL to:
- Ensure compliance contained in the register
- Agree relief notices where applicable.
- Undertake an annual audit of key corporate obligations and to manage any remediation plans.
- Define any re-procurement strategies and processes.
- Identify any commercial or financial risks and ensure they are clearly documented with impact and supporting mitigation plans.
You will prepare and/or review contract terms, which may be prior to an opportunity being advertised, and amend (where necessary/possible) to ensure they are reflective of the requirement.
You will take advice and guidance from the Commercial Buying Lead and/or the Director of Governance, Assurance & Legal on the most appropriate terms.
You will also manage contract negotiations between the parties and conclude the contract terms, ensuring SCCLs interests are protected, and the contract can be effectively managed.
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?
- A significant record of Commercial Contract management experience.
- Experience of managing key contract terms and establishing and maintaining contract governance and assurance.
- Experience of managing and reporting against SLA’s and KPI’s.
- A proven track record of structuring, managing, negotiating and closing contract changes.
- Strong excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, goal seek and conditional formatting)
- Experience of managing disputes and developing commercial optimisation and financial leverage.
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience
