Salary: Salary: £43,520 with the potential to rise to £51,200 by year 3

We have an exciting opportunity within NHS Supply Chain for a Deputy Company Secretary to join our busy Governance, Assurance, and Legal Team


The Deputy Company Secretary plays a pivotal role in demonstrating that NHS Supply Chain is being managed in accordance with the expectations of its stakeholders. Reporting to the Company Secretary but also working closely with the members of the Board of Directors, the CEO, and other Executive Directors.

What does a Deputy Company Secretary do at NHS Supply Chain?


Responsible for the planning and the organisation of an annual calendar of events for the Board.  This will include its committees and executive groups to help ensure the effective operation of these meetings.

Helping to ensure that the company is meeting the appropriate standards of probity and following its various policies and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Provide technical guidance whilst overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.

Assists in developing, monitoring, and understanding policies and procedures.

Understands the business environment and its objectives to develop solutions.


What skills, qualifications, and qualities do I need to be successful?


Excellent organisational and communication skills

The ability to work on own initiative, with minimum supervision, yet using judgment on referral of matters to a more senior level

Impressive stakeholder management skills to present well-reasoned influence over others whom the post holder may have no formal authority

Professional capacity to work with sensitivity and diplomacy, patience, and confidentiality in dealing with a wide range of people

Previous experience of working in a confidential, sensitive, and pressurised environment.

There is a requirement for a flexible approach to working in this role

Occasional requirements to drive and travel with overnight stays

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

A blend of home and office working 2/3 days in the office and 2/3 days at home.
