Salary: £51,993 with potential to rise to £56,187 over a 3-year period.

NHS Supply Chain are recruiting for a Commercial Supplier Development Manager

 

What does a Supplier Development Manager do at NHS Supply Chain?

 

Our goal within the Supplier Development Team will be to engage and work both internally with our Categories and associated Functions and externally with our Supplier base,

outside of the contracting process, to increase our supply chains capability and capacity in line with our NHS Supply Chain Vision.

 

You will support building our action plan to increase quality and value, through ongoing improvements in key areas of Manufacturing & Logistics, Innovation & Social Value.

 

In the Commercial role you will bring your experience & passion for Manufacturing & Supply Chain and Procurement expertise together, partnering with Categories and other key internal stakeholders to help deliver increased efficiency and resilience in category strategies.

 

Responsibilities

 

Support the launch and ongoing communications around our UK Manufacturing Strategy

Work with Category Leads to feasibility assess opportunities where UK make could improve supply agility and value using end-to-end supply chain analysis, defining intended benefits and metrics.

Work with Sustainability and Resilience teams on supplier risks to assess if the UK Manufacturing base could be an effective alternative, defining all relevant trade-offs and possible mitigations.

Support the Innovation and SRM teams to ensure that all definitions of UK manufacturers are well placed to meet our future needs, in collaboration with the Technical Supplier Development Manager

Utilise appropriate project management methodology to structure, resource and lead the delivery of change, including post implementation evaluation on behalf of key stakeholders.

Meet NHS Supply Chain Commercial standards in all aspects of Value Based Procurement and Financial assessment and reporting.

Engage with and maintain working knowledge of the UK Manufacturing base, creating a network of contacts and events in order to track evolving opportunities in the market.

Support the implementation of our SME engagement ladder principles, working with the Categories and Performance & Risk teams to track the growth in representation as defined in DHSC / NHS Supply Chain Social Value targets.

Represent NHS Supply Chain as required in DHSC, Standards Agencies, Trade associations and other forums.

Be in a position to attend site visits and meetings across the UK as needed, subject to reasonable notice.

What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?

 

Educated to Degree level or equivalent with knowledge and experience of relevant specialisms.

Desirable – Experience within regulated industries, prioritising safety, and quality

CIPS Membership

Working knowledge of Project Management principles supported by demonstrable experience of leading projects from Ideation through to Implementation

Desirable –Project Management certification

Strong understanding of Lean principles and the importance of best practice

Proven ability to persuade and influence effectively at all organisational levels, utilising strong interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills.

Strong financial modelling and cost analysis skills

A collaborative approach to problem solving.

Relevant experience of risk management, corporate governance and quality management systems.

Determination to drive change in a complex matrix organisation.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Hybrid working; a blend of home and office working 2/3 days in the office and 2/3 days at home.
