NHS Supply Chain: Food Support NHS Trusts Through COVID-19 Pandemic

21 August 2020

NHS Supply Chain: Food have been supporting NHS trusts across England, with a variety of initiatives being launched to help customers through these unprecedented times.

We responded to an urgent request and provided 10,000 lunchboxes to the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) over the Easter bank holiday weekend to support frontline staff who were working extremely long hours to help save lives.

Other initiatives included:

  • Producing guides about choosing the right foods for patients who had difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) following ventilation
  • Ideas and guidance on high protein snacks and drinks for recovering patients
  • Emergency meal suggestions for short-staffed kitchens.
