NHS Supply Chain Teams Support Critical Cargo for Nepal

7 July 2021

NHS Supply Chain colleagues have been thanked for their swift response to an urgent call from the Department of Health and Social Care to assist in getting urgent medical supplies to Nepal, to help in the country’s fight against COVID-19.

Thank you all for your hard work and help in getting the medical supplies to Nepal, in particular for your responsiveness at short notice and help overcoming a variety of hurdles. It’s all been gratefully received and will be shortly making its way out to hospitals where we know it is needed and will save lives.

Nicola Pollitt, British Ambassador to Nepal.

The call came during the May bank holiday weekend and teams worked quickly with partners and suppliers to assist with securing the required breathing consumables, including PPE and breathing filters.

Around six pallets worth of stock, containing around 2,000 items of PPE, were assembled in time to make the specially commissioned flight from RAF Brize Norton.

I’m very proud of the whole team – it was a real collaborative effort with our partners and suppliers to turn around the request so quickly for such a worthwhile cause.

Scott Murray, Head of Inventory Management.
