Operational Responsibility Update for Personal Protective Equipment
From April this year, the responsibility for the operation of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Personal Protective Equipment programme transferred back to NHS Supply Chain. This will help to:
- Ensure that there is a single supply chain to manage the future procurement and supply of products.
- Consider and meet the needs of the wider health and care sector.
- Improve overall supply chain resilience through the use of best practice.
At the moment the DHSC will retain ownership of the centralised stock management function.
New PPE Portal
A replacement portal platform has been created by the DHSC to provide a better service to eligible social care and primary care providers, who are accessing critical COVID-19 related protective equipment free of charge.
All PPE offered on the portal meets UK government quality standards. The old portal platform will be closed down on Tuesday 26 April 2022 and will forward to the new website.
