Volunteering scheme contributes over 2,500 hours to local causes in 2024
NHS Supply Chain today announced that its employees contributed 2,667 hours to charities and local causes around the UK in 2024 through its employee volunteering scheme.
NHS Supply Chain are a part of the NHS family, their role is to source, deliver and supply healthcare products, services and food for NHS trusts and healthcare organisations across England and Wales.
By working in collaboration with the healthcare system and suppliers, they ensure the products they supply are safe, quality assured and delivered efficiently, helping the NHS to put patients first.
The organisation is based at Equinox House, City Link in Nottingham, and employs over 1,100 people across England.
The scheme gives colleagues the opportunity to share their skills, experience and time with a charity or local cause of their choice two days a year.

Employees have participated in various activities, such as:
- Preserving the environment and supporting local areas, including litter picking in local areas
- Helping to support local charities, such as local foodbanks
- Using practical skills to help the local community, for example getting involved in initiatives with local schools
Corporate communications manager, Jennie Gilleeney, spent her volunteering days at Clifton NG11 Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust.
It’s important to me that NHS Supply Chain gives us the opportunity to volunteer our time to help others locally. Spending time at the Foodbank made me realise how easy it is to take what we have for granted.
Jennie Gilleeney, corporate communications manager
