The latest company news from NHS Supply Chain

Breakfast sessions provide insight and challenge

Tuesday 7 May 2019

From September 2018 to February 2019, the Department of Health and Social Care ran 11 customer engagement events with NHS Supply Chain, facilitated by our CEO Jin Sahota, Chair Jim Spittle and Customer Engagement Director Stephen Foulser. The events were held regionally and attended by senior NHS decision makers from over 110 provider organisations.

The conversations at these events were insightful and challenging and we have committed to providing the NHS with more information on key topics going forward. We gave updates throughout February and March during our series of Category Tower Service Provider webinars which were attended by over 750 delegates and through our Critical Project Bulletins and webinars.

We are acting on feedback from the sessions in a number of areas:

  • We are working with NHS Improvement to ensure our savings and requirements align better with the NHS
  • We have updated trust impact statements
  • We developed the Critical Projects Bulletin to keep our customers regularly updated on EU Exit, VAT change and Buy Price = Sell Price.

We put together a full FAQ document detailing the main questions and answers from the breakfast sessions which were emailed to all attendees. These covered subjects such as:

  • How trusts can benefit from the new model
  • How it is different to other large scale procurement projects
  • Developments in the Category Towers
  • The impact of our new IT infrastructure
  • How we plan to work with non-acute organisations
  • How trusts can hold us to account.
