Software updates for all handheld eDC devices

As part of our continuous service improvement we recently updated the software currently installed on all eDC handheld (PDA) devices. This includes both standard eDC and eDC Gold customers.

Why did we need to do this?

There are a number of different PDAs in use within trusts, with different versions of the eDC application installed. Having multiple versions to support and manage decreases the level of service we can offer, slowing our response to make improvements. With everyone using the same version of software, we can respond more quickly, working to resolve any issues efficiently, to minimise disruption to your ordering schedules.

How did we do?

The project was a huge success and we received some excellent feedback from our customers and our Customer Services team who advised they had no disruption to orders.  We supported the process with a full hyper-care team for 5 days and have continued to engage with our customers through the support of our Customer Service IT Helpdesk. The update highlighted a minimal number of issues which we resolved by sending out SD cards direct so those affected could load the update.  In total we updated over 650 PDAs in the first week, which is a great achievement.
