Tuesday 21 July 2015

Did you know that the launch of our Fresh Food Framework on 1 June 2015 meant we have been able to extend our product range to meet the needs of both catering operations and ward-level provisions?

With 70 suppliers on contract ranging from SMEs to multi-nationals that are all subject to rigorous food safety audits and help you to meet Government Buying Standards for food, you can purchase from our Frameworks with absolute confidence.

We are constantly developing and improving what we have to offer on Catering products and whilst helping you make savings is important to all of us, there are plenty of other issues to take in to consideration when stocking your kitchens and pantries.

We work closely with organisations such as the Department of Health, NHS England, Hospital Caterers Association and patients to make sure we are moving in the right direction.

Most notably, a recent initiative to improve patient hydration we introduced new patient water jugs that also delivered 12% in savings.

What else have we got to offer?

  • We are leading on supplying a range of crockery for Dementia and Alzheimer's patients that helps bring independence and and dignity.
  • We have consulted with NHS catering staff and procurement professionals to inform the next Multi-Temperature Food Solutions Framework that is due to launch in November 2015.
  • Our Catering range offers complete meal solutions for everyone, including dietary requirements such as gluten-free, Kosher and Halal.

We can help your trust make savings on Catering

  • Ranges tailored to patient feeding and ward level delivery achieved over £120k in savings in 2014 through price down and optimising efficiencies.
  • Large savings have been achieved across ambient food, for example, £173k savings were achieved on canned goods alone in 2014 through running e-auctions between suppliers at harvest guaranteeing the lowest market price.
  • Commodities are constantly tracked and negotiations delivered savings of £120k in 2014. Significantly more is forecast this year having already surpassed last year’s total.

What is in store for 2015 and beyond?

We will be working with our supplier base on a range of important issues including:

  • Seeing how our suppliers are moving towards using sustainable palm oil
  • How improvements to nutritional content (salt and fat) can be best captured
  • Reducing waste
  • How are suppliers responding to requests for seasonal produce
  • Addressing authenticity and traceability.
