Mandie Sunderland is a busy lady, not only is she Chief Nurse at Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust, but Mandie is also a member of both the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and NHS Supply Chain’s Customer Board.

Mandie is a big advocate of driving better patient care and highlighting the value that nurses bring not only on delivering the very best in patient care but how nurses if engaged can play a crucial part in helping the NHS make cost efficiencies on a vast scale.

Earlier this month Mandie sat down with Daniel Allen who writes for RCN’s monthly bulletin and spoke with him about how significant savings could be made by the nursing community by unifying procurement practices on some of the most commonly (and often most costly) used consumables. The important point for Mandie is that by achieving savings through effective procurement nursing posts are protected.
