Software Updates for all eDC and eDC Gold Handheld (PDA) Devices

rolling out eDC Gold

As part of our continuous service improvement we will be updating the software currently installed on all eDC handheld (PDA) devices.

As part of our continuous service improvement, and to keep in line with the ever changing NHS landscape, NHS Supply Chain is replacing its current Remote Data Access (RDA) server.

This server processes all eDC and eDC Gold handheld (PDA) devices transactions and we’re replacing this to provide a more secure and reliable service for our customers. This key update will also provide future development opportunities for hardware and software platforms, but it will mean a change to the current URLs on your PDAs.

Who will this affect?

This will affect all eDC and eDC Gold customers ordering via PDAs.

When are we doing this?

A national automatic software update is planned to be released in the coming weeks.

What do you need to do now?

In order to ensure you can continue to use your PDA to order via eDC or eDC Gold when we switch to the new server, it is important that you follow the steps below as soon as possible.

You will need to:

1. Contact your local IT department to add the following two new URL addresses to your network and firewall settings
(but please do not remove the current URLs).

2. Once your local IT has setup the URLs please select the link below to ensure you can securely access them.

  • If the successful connection page appears, you do not need to take any action.
  • If connection is not made, you will need to speak to your local IT department again.
