  • The supplier BVI has given us very late notification of an interruption to supply with its ophthalmology range of products.
  • 460 blue diamond ophthalmic products are affected. Of which, 157 products have been ordered in the last three months.
  • The disruption in supply is due to the supplier moving distribution sites, but BVI failed to inform NHS Supply Chain of the effect on product supply of this change in a timely manner.

Impact:

  • The 460 affected product codes will not be available for delivery between 9 and 16 January.
  • Product orders can still be placed but will not be processed until 15 January. At this date the variable lead time for each product will apply.
  • As a result of the late notice, there are currently no identified potential alternative products available.
  • Alternatives are being sought from other suppliers and a further update will be provided on 11 January.
  • Please refer to the product listing below for further information on the affected product codes.
  • The interruption in supply is anticipated to be resolved by 16 January 2019.
