The Stryker`s SPY-PHI camera system is an advanced imaging open-field white light and fluorescent imaging camera with four imaging modes, including quantification. It uses indocyanine green (ICG) to allow surgeons to illuminate tissue perfusion and lymphatics intra-operatively in an open surgical setting. Lymphatic mapping is used to find lymph nodes in cancer staging procedures, such as breast cancer, gynaecology, and melanoma. Perfusion assessment allows the surgeon to see perfused tissue and make clinical judgments during reconstructive procedures and resections.

The system comprises: SPY-PHI – Hand Held Imager, SPY QP – fluorescent quantification software, Video Processor Illuminator (VPI), CCU and light – source combined, HUB or SDC4K image management system, with associated software packages, 4K OLED 32″ monitor, small cart with adjustable arm.

• SPY-PHI has four operating modes:
• Overlay allows visualisation of the fluorescence over the white light image. This allows anatomical structures to be in view at all time.
• Contrast with black and white mode. This is the most sensitive of the fluorescent modes as it`s the raw fluorescent image.
• Colour segmented fluorescence (CFS) which is colour scale of the intensity of the fluorescent signal depending on the amount of ICG present in the tissue.
• White light which provides white-light image with no fluorescence.
• SPY-PHI also has quantification software allowing the surgeons to quantify the amount of ICG in the tissue over two methods. Either by relative percentage or by colour maps.
• SPY-PHI is ambient light immune which means that the operating room lights can remain on and there is no disruption to surgical flow.
• The device contains imaging flattening technology which allows for an objective fluorescent signal that doesn’t change regardless of proximity to the tissue.
