• The supply issue with Chloraprep products from Becton Dickinson UK Ltd is continuing.
• Three affected product codes remain subject to Protect Demand Management:
  • DMD85006 – 1.5ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine in 70% IPA clear
  • MRB303 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product 1.5ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution
  • MRB306 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product 3ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution.
• Two product codes remain suspended and unavailable to order:
  • DMD85004 – 1.75ml swab stick 2% chlorhexidine in 70% IPA sterile solution
  • DMK000 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product – 1ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution.

• The supply issue with Chloraprep products from Becton Dickinson UK Ltd is continuing.
• We can confirm that Becton Dickinson UK Ltd has had derogation approval for two products from Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to supply US licenced Chloraprep 1.75ml swab stick and Chloraprep Clear 1.5ml Frepp applicator to the UK market.
• The two products are currently being brought into stock and will be supplied under new National Product Codes (NCP):
  • DMD85006 – 1.5ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine in 70% IPA clear
  • DMD85007 – 1.75ml swab stick 2% chlorhexidine in 70% IPA sterile solution.
• DMD85006 is now subject to Protect Demand Management:
• MRB306 and MRB303 remain subject to Protect Demand Management.
• MRB306, MRB303, and DMD85006 are available to order through NHS Supply Chain. However, trusts are allocated a maximum daily quantity or “threshold” to ensure fair supply of available stock across the NHS.
• Five product codes remain affected in total.
• DMD85006 will not be available from all depots immediately; however, stock will be delivered into the network from 23 July 2026.
• DMD85006 will be supplied as the direct alternative to MRB303 as stock of MRB303 is depleted.
• Once MRB303 has been depleted from all depots, DMD85006 will be the replacement product until MRB303 is back in stock.
• Customers ordering DMD85006 from a depot that does not yet have stock available will receive MRB303 instead.
• NHS Supply Chain will be receiving stock of DMD85007 from 3 August 2026.
• One product code is now suspended and unavailable to order:
  • DMD85004 – 1.75ml swab stick 2% chlorhexidine in 70% IPA sterile solution.
• DMD85007 – 1.75ml swab stick 2% Chlorhexidine in 70% IPA is the US stock code for DMD85004.

• Becton Dickinson UK Ltd has confirmed that they will be price matching three alternative products for DMK000 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product – 1ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution:
  • MRB306, MRB494 and MRB303.
• The price matching exercise will be conducted through rebates directly with Becton Dickinson UK Ltd.

• The supplier Becton Dickinson UK Ltd has informed us of a supply issue with its Chloraprep products.
• There are three product codes affected:
  • DMK000 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product 1ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution
  • MRB306 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product 3ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution
  • MRB303 – Skin Disinfectant Medicinal Product 1.5ml sterile applicator 2% chlorhexidine gluconate in 70% IPA clear solution.
• This supply issue is due to a temporary pause in production to update the production line.
• Customers are advised to transition to clinically appropriate alternative BD ChloraPrep™ products during this period, subject to local policy and clinical suitability.
• Due to this ongoing supply issue, MRB306 and MRB303 are now being threshold managed as they are subject to Protect Demand Management.
