NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Clinical, Engagement and Implementation Manager – Diagnostics to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first and to deliver against our strategic objectives.
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Clinical, Engagement and Implementation Manager – Diagnostics who will be accountable for delivering against NHSSC and National clinical and quality standards for customer engagement, specification development and product testing/evaluation within a Category.
Assuring the clinical quality and safety of products and activity within a Category. Specialist Clinician or Industry product specialist with significant demonstrable and relevant experience working within the specific category product/s areas for a significant part of their career.
Focussed category product specialist and subject matter experts with a hands on and working knowledge of the category products and the clinical care associated with the category that they are placed in. Stakeholder management through a clinical engagement process, working across clinical and non-clinical stakeholder functions including regular presentations to teams of specialist clinicians and managing suppliers as part of portfolio activity. Influencing uptake and the continuous improvement of the commercial offers by the suppliers through these projects.
Making recommendations for opportunities with products from across the market which promote standardisation, are clinically sound and have fiscal responsibility for best use of the budget. Chairing supplier / NHS product and award meetings/ events, ensuring that informed decisions are made which align to the parameters of the national framework agreement.
Every day you will …
- Use data from a wide range of sources to analyse key themes and identify possible impacts on the business. Comprehensive commercial understanding of the frameworks and market to take line level data and modelling this as clinical practice. Conducting complex analytics to review “current clinical practice needs” vs “future clinical practice needs” whilst ensuring that the end users are complying with national initiatives and programs and understand how decisions made may impact on these.
- Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
- Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function’s strategy and action plan and to the broader organisation’s mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals
- Ensure the organization is not exposed to undue risks by using risk management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area of the business. Identifying risks associated with products and changes in product portfolios to ensure quality is maintained in the interests of the end users and patients with avoidance of unintended consequences following any procurement activity or supplier changes in the market. Working within a designated product portfolio with responsibility for project delivery, accurate savings delivery and uptake across NHS Trusts or ICSs..
- Deliver defined features, functionality, or outcomes from a designated part of the development/engineering program, selecting the best available approach within established systems. Product focussed within product categories relating to their experience, often including Class IIb and Class III Medical devices, equipment, care pathway services and solutions and associated consumables. Responsible for leading and writing technical specifications for tender/procurement processes, deriving the scope, responsibility for product assurance, development of a detailed product taxonomy for catalogue and analytic purposes and supporting supply chain resilience within specific categories for National Framework Agreement solutions

What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in a Clinical background within a complex healthcare organisation either in a hospital or primary care setting.
- Clinical product knowledge and the ability to be the Subject Matter Expert.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- An expert in industry led practices within a Clinical setting with an in-depth knowledge of diagnostics and relevant clinical pathways.
- Strong understanding of UK and international regulatory frameworks (e.g., MHRA, NICE, ISO standards)
- Clinical governance and quality assurance understanding.
- Clinical/industry experience in any of the following areas – Imaging, Diagnostics, Services, Pathology, Theatres, Renal services, Ambulance sector.
