Job Purpose

We’re looking for a Clinical Lead to help drive the mobilisation and delivery of our Supply Chain Modernisation Programme at NHS Supply Chain.

In this pivotal role, you’ll provide senior clinical leadership, ensuring patient safety, quality of care, and regulatory standards are embedded throughout programme design and delivery.

As the link between NHS stakeholders and NHSSC teams, you’ll bring clinical insight, strategic alignment, and assurance to a major transformation shaping the future of our supply chain model.

Every day you will…

  • Serve as the clinical voice of the Transformation Programme, Lead clinical input across programme governance, design forums, mobilisation activity, and key decision‑making groups.
  • Partner with stakeholder engagement leads to coordinate activity with NHS operational teams, including clinical, finance, procurement, and transformation.
  • Work with experts across Operations, Professional Services, Patient Safety, Quality, Innovation, and Regulatory teams to ensure programme outputs meet required standards.
  • Embed clinical safety principles, regulatory compliance, and best‑practice guidance from programme design through to delivery and adoption.
  • Collaborate with regulatory leads to apply compliance frameworks and proactively identify risk.
  • Align programme deliverables to Strategic Plan priorities, ensuring patient‑centred design and service transformation underpin all decisions.
  • Support change management within the Clinical Directorate, contributing to readiness, engagement, and adoption planning.
  • Contribute to process design, requirements gathering, and detailed design sessions to ensure clinical considerations are fully integrated.
  • Track engagement, readiness, and adoption across clinical user groups, escalating risks where appropriate.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • Extensive senior clinical leadership experience within the NHS or large-scale healthcare transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety principles, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to represent clinical priorities at programme board level and influence strategic decision‑making.
  • Experience working across complex stakeholder groups, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to translate clinical requirements into actionable programme design and deliverables.
  • Experience with change management, adoption, and mobilisation activities within clinical environments.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Understanding of NHS operational, procurement, or supply chain functions (desirable).
  • Recognised clinical qualification with active professional registration and evidence of continued development.
