NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Commercial Lead to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
This role is responsible for leading and managing the commercial and operational delivery of the Scan4Safety framework within the IHS Business Unit. It involves end-to-end accountability for framework activities, shaping its future scope, and ensuring alignment with national stakeholders including NHS Trusts, DHSC, and NHSE. The role also plays a key part in managing vendor relationships, mitigating commercial risks, and leading procurement and commercial activities across a range of strategic programmes.
Strong stakeholder engagement, commercial leadership, and the ability to drive complex initiatives are essential to ensure effective delivery and ongoing development of Scan4Safety and related services.
Every day you will…
- Lead and manage all Scan4Safety commercial-related activities, ensuring effective delivery and oversight.
- Collaborate closely with the IHS Scan4Safety team and support their engagement with NHS Trusts, DHSC, and NHSE.
- Support commercial relationships with IMS providers (vendors) in partnership with the Partner Manager.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve commercial risks with vendors.
- Deliver ongoing commercial support to the IHS Business Unit.
- Provide leadership and support on matters requiring commercial expertise within the IHS team.
- Offer commercial input into solution design to ensure value, viability, and alignment.
- Embed commercial considerations within contingency planning to support resilience and risk mitigation.

- Ability to define, shape, and evolve wider Scan4Safety frameworks aligned to procured items
- Strong commercial relationship management with vendors and strategic partners
- Expertise in identifying, escalating, and resolving commercial risks
- Proven leadership in procurement and purchasing activities (e.g. PDAs and related solutions)
- Commercial leadership across large-scale programmes (e.g. eDC replacement, FDP, Loan Kit solutions)
- Strategic commercial thinking, with the ability to provide informed input into solution design
- Strong stakeholder engagement across NHS Trusts, DHSC, and NHSE
- Ability to lead commercial activity across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex commercial issues
