NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first and to deliver against our strategic objectives.
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Financial Planning & Analysis who will lead the process of setting business targets and coordinating the budget round, monitor business performance, and advise on the financial consequences of major decisions. They will, lead the process of reporting financial and managerial data, and make recommendations targeted at improving and safeguarding financial results.

- Take overall responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering the organisation’s financial management and/or control strategy.
- Communicate the function’s strategy and its relationship to the organisation’s mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organisation’s business goals.
- Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols across the business to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategy for the business area anticipating trends and complex challenges and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy
- Take overall responsibility for setting and approving area budgets that achieve organisational strategy

What skills will help you thrive in this role?
At least 3-5 previous experience in a Head of FP&A role and the expertise in designing and delivering financial management and control strategies that are aligned with organisational goals.
- The ability to anticipate financial trends and integrate financial planning with broader corporate strategy.
- Strong leadership presence to communicate the FP&A function’s strategy in alignment with the organisation’s mission, vision, and values.
- Skilled in inspiring and motivating teams to achieve strategic financial objectives.
- A deep understanding of financial regulations and best practices.
- Experience in developing and enforcing financial policies, guidelines, and protocols across the organisation.
- Proven ability to set, manage, and approve budgets that support strategic initiatives.
- Advanced skills in financial forecasting, scenario planning, and resource allocation.
- A strong analytical mindset to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Ability to support executive decision-making through robust financial analysis and reporting.
- Previous experience of working across departments to ensure financial strategies are integrated and aligned with the operational goals.
- Ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders on financial matters.
- Skilled in leading financial transformation initiatives and adapting strategies in response to evolving business needs.
