NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for Payroll Manager to join our People Team.

Every day you will … 

  • Lead end to end payrol processes ensuring Accurate, timely payroll, oversees all payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with legislation, contracts and audit standards.
  • Act as a payroll subject matter expert, providing advice and assurance on statutory, contractual and policy related pay issues.
  • Contribute to data and financial policy ensuring we are compliant with legislation and future thinking in our approach, ensuring our people are at the heart of our thinking.
  • Own and maintain data governance policies, including GDPR, retention, and audit standards.
  • Own the data quality and governance framework for people data – setting standards, monitoring compliance and driving continuous improvement.
  • Act as a trusted coach to business leaders and the people team, ensuring effectiveness is a shared responsibility, resolving complex queries where required.
  • Partner with Finance, Reward and People Technology and Optimisation Lead to align payroll and people data with financial reporting and system integrations.
  • Work in partnership with People Process and Systems Specialist to simplify workflows and leverage technology to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Manage the relationship with external payroll provider, ensuring strong service delivery and value.
  • Lead and develop people, people manage and coach a small team, giving direction, feedback and opportunities to grow their confidence as well as career.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • Strong expertise in managing and leading end-to-end payroll, delivery of effective payroll solutions, utilising your team and system to ensure a people focused process. In-depth technical skills in payroll systems, HRIS and data reporting tools.
  • Expert knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC processes and pensions regulations. In-depth knowledge of GDPR, data protection, and audit standards.
  • Payroll and People data analytics, with hands-on experience of providing data and reports. Experience leading process improvement across payroll and people data.
  • Expertise in liaising with Finance and Reward teams on all Payroll and People Data matters.
  •  Proven experience leading a small team or specialist function, building technical capability and a culture of accuracy, ownership and service.
