NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Tax Associate to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

We are seeking a Tax Associate who will be a key member of the Tax Team, which sits as part of the Financial Control and Transactional Services team.

The Tax Associate will support all tax activities, including but not limited to the below.

Every day you will … 

  • Working closely with the Accounts Payable team to support with VAT queries on purchase invoices
  • Support the preparation of the corporation tax return – including information gathering and basic analysis
  • Support with preparation of the quarterly VAT return including balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support with employment taxes including preparation of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement
  • Data analysis including using tools such as excel and Oracle Fusion to support the above responsibilities
  • Build close working relationships with members of teams from across the business.
  • Maintain a continuous development mindset whilst undertaking routine tasks
  • Support the tax function with tax related queries
  • Full training and support will be provided in all of the above and candidates should not be discouraged from applying if they do not have current experience in these areas

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • High attention to detail ensuring accuracy in reconciliations and tax returns.
  • An understanding of VAT, employment tax and corporation tax regulations.
  • Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliations and tax submissions.
  • Good Excel skills with the ability to extract, format and analyse data using spreadsheets.
  • The ability to follow established processes for routine enquiries.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
