About Aimee

Aimee qualified as a registered adult nurse in 2007, a career she had dreamed of since the age of 5 years old. Having always had an interest in Haematology/Oncology nursing her career has included Day Case treatment of malignant disease, running an apheresis (stem-cell collection) unit, administering chemotherapy to patients in their own homes and running a patient support programme for patients with Multiple Myeloma.

Aimee joined NHS Supply Chain in September 2022 as a Clinical Nurse Advisor within the central region. Through the Strengthen to Simplify changes within the business, Aimee was successful in securing the role of Clinical Care Pathway Manager for the West Midlands region – forming part of the Care Pathway team. Aimee also has a keen interest in sustainability and is a Sustainability Champion for the business as well as internally within the Care Pathway team.

The Care Pathway team is dedicated to promoting Value Based Healthcare at both NHS provider and Integrated Care Systems (ICS) system level and driving the adoption of innovative products supporting the Innovation team.

The Care Pathway Team’s key objectives are:

  • To improve patient outcomes through focussed partnerships and engagement with NHS stakeholders.

How the Care Pathway team supports the Clinical and Quality of Care Strategy

The Care Pathway Team plays a vital role in supporting the Clinical and Quality of Care Strategy by aligning procurement with clinical excellence and patient outcomes. The teams contributions include:

Driving Innovation and Value-Based Procurement

  • The team promotes the adoption of innovative products and services, especially those under the NHS England MedTech Funding Mandate, within Integrated ICS.
  • They develop and implement Value Based Procurement (VBP) case studies that address clinical pain points, ensuring procurement decisions are based on patient outcomes and long-term value.

Enhancing Clinical Engagement and Collaboration

  • Care Pathway Managers and Care Pathway Specialists work directly with ICSs and provider organisations to embed clinical insights into procurement decisions.
  • They foster collaborative relationships across NHS regions, ensuring that procurement supports frontline clinical needs and promotes best practices.

Improving System Efficiency and Patient Outcomes

  • By implementing evidence-driven care pathways, the team helps streamline clinical processes, reduce unnecessary resource use, and improve referral and treatment timelines.
  • Their efforts contribute to reducing waiting times, enhancing patient satisfaction, and supporting integrated care delivery across the NHS.

Life outside work

As a mum to a teenage daughter, Aimee’s spare time is often spent acting a taxi service or agony aunt.

Her two main passions are football and food – occasionally the two combine. As a lifelong Wolverhampton Wonderers supporter, she is used to disappointment in the beautiful game however, she can be found at her beloved Molineux stadium every home game of the season.

Aimee loves to cook, her favourite cuisine being Asian food – Thai and Japanese in particular. When she is not in the kitchen making Pho or Ramen, she loves a trip to her local oriental supermarket to stock up on ingredients that she can’t pronounce.

Aimee said: “It has been a huge learning curve going from frontline patient care to the world of procurement and from Clinical Nurse Advisor to Clinical Care Pathway Manager. I am excited to see what difference myself and the wider Care Pathway Team, can make to the NHS and improve patient care.”
