NHS Supply Chain wins at the UK National GO Awards
We are delighted to share that NHS Supply Chain has won Public Procurement Project of the Year (Local Government and Healthcare Organisations) at the UK National GO Awards 2026.
The award recognises our Value Based Procurement approach to improving outcomes in complex hernia surgery. By supporting the adoption of innovative, second-generation surgical mesh, the project has helped reduce recurrence rates, avoid repeat procedures, and significantly improve patient outcomes, while also increasing surgical capacity across the NHS.
At University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, this approach has delivered over £1.5 million in productivity and efficiency savings. It has reduced hospital stays and enabled more patients to be treated by freeing up valuable clinical time and resources.
This work demonstrates how procurement can play a transformative role in delivering both clinical and system-wide benefits.
Being recognised at a national level reflects the dedication, collaboration, and expertise of our teams and partners in driving innovation and delivering measurable value for the NHS and patients.

Huge congratulations to the team, absolutely well-deserved winners. We’re incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to everyone who contributed to making this project a success.

Receiving this GO Award was a proud moment and a real honour. It is meaningful recognition that we are making a positive difference for the NHS and the patients we serve. It also reflects the team’s perseverance and determination to deliver and build on this project’s success.
