Watch: Simon Clarke on the role of the Customer Design Board

15 July 2026

Through the NHS Supply Chain Modernisation Programme, over the coming years we’re working to create a supply chain that better serves the NHS by improving services, enhancing product choice and delivering greater value for the health system.

A key part of that journey is our Customer Design Board, which brings together colleagues from across the NHS to help shape the future delivery model. Through co-design and co-production, we’re ensuring that a broad range of perspectives help inform decisions and shape the future of NHS Supply Chain.

Chaired by Simon Clarke, Managing Director of Procurement for NHS Birmingham, Black Country and Solihull, the Customer Design Board provides valuable insight, challenge and expertise as the programme develops. By bringing together voices from across NHS regions, we’re helping to ensure that future solutions reflect the needs of customers, patients and the wider health system.

In this short video, Simon shares his perspective on the importance of collaboration, the role of the Customer Design Board, and how working together will help us build a supply chain that is fit for the future.

We’re grateful to everyone who continues to contribute their time, experience and ideas to the programme.
