With a large field of view (23cmx29cm) and a high resolution CMOS detector, the Faxitron® Path Specimen Radiography System is designed to accommodate a broad range of laboratory specimens without sacrificing resolution (up to 40+lp/mm).

The system has a magnification shelf with field-of-view guides, that provides up to 6X geometric magnification facilitating the location of small microcalcifications in tissue samples, ensuring accurate diagnoses and delivering greater efficiency for the laboratory and more timely results for the patient.

The device can be used by suitably trained healthcare professionals in the pathology laboratory to image anything from breast tissue and intact mastectomies to bone and foetal remains.

Device dimensions are as follows: Weight 188kg, chamber dimensions 39cmx42cmx57cm (WxDxH), external dimensions 59cmx54cmx90cm (WxDxH). Digital image receptor pixel size is 50μm.
The system is easy to use and comes with a 3.7MP display monitor and a one year warranty. Clinical applications support is provided.

Features and Benefits

  • High resolution imaging: The system has a magnification shelf with field of view guides that provides up to 6X geometric magnification, enabling location of the smallest calcifications in tissue samples ensuring accurate diagnoses. (50μm pixel size).
  • Wide energy range: 20-100kV coupled with the Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) allows both thin slices and large specimens to be optimally imaged.
  • Improved efficiency: Routine access to high-resolution imaging with this system results in faster final report generation. The software also has the ability to send multiple annotated images to PACS assisting with reporting workflow.
  • Optimised design: The system allows for optimal specimen placement at the point-of-care. Its stainless steel chamber was designed with no right angles to allow for easy cleaning.
  • A 61cm (24in) high-resolution 3.7MP display monitor is included for optimal viewing of specimens.
  • Image display magnification options : 1.5:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, and 6:1.
  • Convenient interface: The continuous surface keyboard allows for ease of use; the system can save images in a variety of file formats.
  • Ease of use: No additional training or specialised X-ray requirements are needed to operate the system. The unit plugs into any standard A/C outlet.
  • Safety features : Physical key, door equipped with dual safety interlocks, fully shielded, emergency stop, power, ready, X-rays on and door shut indicators and audible tone
    during exposure.
  • Applications and training support provided on – site by Hologic; remote support available through the Hologic technical solutions centre.
