The Faxitron® Trident® HD Specimen Radiography System provides highly detailed imaging for rapid verification of breast surgical specimens in theatres or breast biopsy specimens in radiology/ mammography departments. Image quality is the same as that of the Dimensions® gantry platform.

The device can be used by suitably trained, theatre and radiology staff. Specimens do not need to be taken to another room for imaging, meaning there is no waiting for surgical margin confirmation, and no costly scheduling delays in theatres. In radiology / mammography departments, specimen imaging can be performed at the point of care supporting efficient workflow.

A 16cmx18cm active imaging area is big enough to accommodate a large range of sample sizes. The system has built in help guides for ease of use and connects easily to hospital PACS systems, enabling prior mammograms to be retrieved and or sent for review by clinicians. Clinical applications support is provided.

Features and Benefits

  • Detector technology: Amorphous selenium, direct capture technology makes high resolution imaging (70 μm pixels) possible; important for accurate assessment of margins and calcifications.
  • The system has the ability to compare the specimen image with the original mammogram or biopsy image on one screen.
  • Easy to clean, modern, enclosed design supports infection control protocols.
  • Mobile Imaging system with small footprint (168±2cm x 61cmx 66cm) makes it easy to manoeuvre and transport between rooms.
  • Automated Exposure Control (AEC) for optimal imaging of specimens.
  • Improved workflow with instant verification at the point of care, resulting in faster examination completion time in theatres or imaging departments.
  • Robust tool set includes zoom, measure, annotate, five user selectable levels of image sharpening.
  • Easy integration to facility, WiFi workstations and PACS (USB port available).
  • Intuitive control panel and software interface.
  • Applications and training support provided on – site by Hologic; remote support available through the Hologic technical solutions centre.
