Product Update BBI Healthcare Oral Nutritional Products (ICN 3087)

• The discontinuation with Oral Nutritional products from BBI Healthcare has improved.
• We now have stock available to order.
• Four products have now been delisted from our online catalogue:
  • AZB170, AZB179, AZB178 and AZB181.
• The new codes to replace the delisted codes are now available to order:
  • AZB85007, AZB85006, AZB85005 and AZB85004.
• One affected product is available whilst stock lasts and will then be delisted from our online catalogue, this product will be relisted under a new product code at a later date:
  • AZB182.

• We’re pleased to share that we have secured a bulk purchase of the Glucose Gels from BBI Healthcare, ensuring sufficient stock to support demand through to January 2026.
• Five products remain affected in total:
  • AZB182, AZB170, AZB179, AZB178 and AZB181.
• We advise trusts to order as normal through our online catalogue whilst we work on a permanent solution for provision beyond 2025.
• The affected products remain available whilst our current stock lasts, once the stock is depleted the product codes will be unavailable to order.

• The ICN will be reviewed and updated in early 2026 with a new proposed delist date.

Change:

• Glucose Gels, previously available through NHS Supply Chain, will no longer be accessible under the new framework launching on 27 October 2025 as the supplier, BBI Healthcare, opted not to participate in the tender process for these products.
• The Customer Launch is scheduled for 15 September 2025, see our Useful Links section to view the Contract Information Page.
• Trusts that have historically procured these products will find the affected product codes showing as delisted in their Trust Impact Statements (TIS) when they are issued on 15 September 2025.
• Five products are affected:
  • AZB182, AZB170, AZB179, AZB178 and AZB181.
• Glucose gels play a critical role in the management of hypoglycaemia, offering patients an immediate sugar boost. They are particularly relied upon by individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Impact:

• The affected products are available whilst our current stock lasts, once the stock is depleted the product codes will be unavailable to order.
• Unfortunately, there are currently no alternatives available. Customers will need to source these products directly from BBI Healthcare or identify an alternative supplier outside of NHS Supply Chain.

• The products are anticipated to be delisted by 27 October 2025.

Next Steps:

• Customers are advised to log into our website to view the product listing for further information on the affected product codes.
• The category team is actively engaging with awarded suppliers under the new framework to explore the possibility of distributing these products via NHS Supply Chain.
• In the meantime, customers will need to source these products directly from BBI Healthcare or identify an alternative supplier outside of NHS Supply Chain.
• We will update the ICN when we have any further information.
