Product Update Nationally Contracted Products (NCP)  Chlorine (ICN 3322)

• One of the awarded product codes is currently suspended due to ongoing supplier manufacturing issues:
  • MRB278 – Chlorine Dilution Vessel – Diluter bottle 1 litre with lid.
• MFB994 has been temporarily reinstated via our eDirect route to act as a direct alternative to MRB278:
  • MFB994 – Chlorine Dilution Vessel – Diluter bottle 1 litre with lid for Chlor-Clean.
• MRB278 will remain unavailable until 31 July 2026. During this period, MFB994 should be used as a direct substitute until supply is restored.
• Five of the awarded product codes remain available to order from our online catalogue:
  • MFB257 – Chlorine Dilution Vessel – Diluter bottle 1 litre with lid for use with SoChlor tablets
  • MKJ85528 – Chlorine Releasing Tablets – 1.7g NaDCC Tablet (200 tabs) for use with dilution bottle MFB257 replaces MFB254
  • MKJ85896 – Chlorine Releasing Tablets – 1.7g NaDCC
  • MFB294 – Chlorine Releasing Tablets – 1.7g NaDCC with detergent (200 tabs) Tamper evident lid for use with dilution bottle MFB991
  • MRB751 – Chlorine Releasing Tablets -1.7g NaDCC with detergent (200 tabs) for use with dilution bottle MRB278.
• Direct alternative products are available to order through our online catalogue for the affected product. However, some of these products may also become subject to intermittent supply with the increase in demand.

Change:

• This Nationally Contracted Product (NCP) has been introduced to rationalise the chlorine product range and deliver cost savings for NHS trusts. The activity supports improved value, reduced variation, and a more resilient supply base across the NHS.
• The procurement exercise has achieved a national savings opportunity of 44% (£684,412.52 including VAT)** for the NHS.
• The products under this NCP are chlorine releasing tablets with and without detergent and chlorine dilution vessels.

Impact:

• Guest Medical Limited and GV Health are the two successful suppliers awarded on the NCP and have been awarded on 70 / 30 percentage volume split.
• All awarded products are already available within the NHS and through our supply route.
• The new pricing will come into effect on 16 June 2026.

• As of 16 June 2026, the products of the following unsuccessful suppliers within this product area will be delisted from the online catalogue for a minimum period of 17 months:
