Clinical Community Spotlight – Cath Bruce
Please welcome Cath Bruce, our newest member of the Clinical Directorate.
Cath has recently joined NHS Supply Chain in a new role as Specialist Medical Advisor. As a medical doctor, she has worked in the NHS for almost 30 years. She is excited to be given the opportunity to join the clinical transformational journey at NHS Supply Chain.
Being driven by a passion for medicine, and in particular for General Practice (GP), since a very young age, she always knew that becoming a GP was her primary focus.
Once achieved, she has spent the past 25 years as a GP Partner within the South East of England. More recently she has taken the opportunity to further develop her career in medical education, now also working as a Senior Lecturer in General Practice and Primary Care in a University Medical School.
Working in Primary Care, Cath has developed expert skills in general practice medicine as well as operational and management expertise, such as quality governance, system leadership and delivery of service.
A key role for Cath will be bringing the medical voice into our clinical multidisciplinary teams and the wider organisation and to contribute to the delivery of our Clinical and Quality of Care Strategy.

She hopes to bring her clinical knowledge, advanced communication and system leadership experience to build partnerships with our external stakeholders and contribute to the wider collaborative work we do.
With the 10 Year Heath Plan for England and the strategic shifts from hospital to community and from sickness to prevention, the need to provide integrated care through pathways of care is integral to Cath’s work at NHS Supply Chain, contributing to our priority of value-based healthcare.
Cath will combine this role whilst continuing to practise as a GP, and lecturer at university.
Having only been here a month so far, the ambitions and values of the organisation have shone clearly for me to see. I have already seen how ensuring the highest quality of care and maintaining patients’ safety is at the top of everyone’s agenda. I have already met so many inspiring colleagues already. I really looking forward to the year ahead.
