Heather Tierney-Moore OBE Joins Cavell as Patron
We’re excited to share some great news. Our Chair Heather Tierney-Moore OBE has been appointed as a patron of Cavell – a charity that supports nurses and midwives when they need it most.
Heather’s career is nothing short of inspiring. She started out as one of the first Macmillan breast cancer nurses in the UK and went on to hold senior leadership roles across the NHS in England and Scotland.
After ten years as Chief Executive at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, Heather now works with organisations and individuals at the heart of health and social care. She also serves as a Non-Executive Director for Priory.

It’s a huge honour to be a Cavell patron. When I started out years ago as a student nurse, I could never have imagined I’d be in this position. I’m truly looking forward to helping shine a light on the immensely valuable work Cavell does to support nurses and midwives, especially during times of personal or professional crisis. I hope to ensure that Edith Cavell’s legacy of compassion, courage, and commitment to care, remains at the heart of the charity’s mission and continues to inspire future generations of nurses and midwives.
Heather Tierney-Moore, Non-Executive Director, NHS Supply Chain
We’re delighted that Heather will bring her experience from a long career as a nurse and executive leader to support Cavell’s mission to empower nurses and midwives to thrive and continue delivering exceptional care to patients and families. Heather has a strong track record of influencing national policy and partnership working right across healthcare to improve outcomes for patients. We are delighted to be working with Heather to strengthen our existing partnerships with NHS Supply Chain and Priory, and together we can support nurses and midwives across the UK when they face times of crisis.
Lewis Allett, Chief Executive, Cavell
I’m thrilled that Heather has such an important role with Cavell. As Chair of NHS Supply Chain her experience and knowledge has ensured we remain focused on supporting the NHS to improve patients’ lives. Now Heather can give back to the nurses and midwives that do this every day and ensure they get the help they need when it is needed.
