NHS Healthcare Uniforms

How to order

Introduction

This page provides information for uniform wearers on how to order a uniform, including a sizing guide and Made to Order sizes.

If you need to place an order, please ensure that the person responsible for uniform orders in your trust is informed (for example your procurement team or supplies team).

Uniform garments can’t be ordered until your trust has completed the implementation process with NHS Supply Chain.

How do I find my size?

The NHS Healthcare Uniform is designed to have a looser fit. The fabric has a minimum 10% stretch offering improved manoeuvrability and the garments are available in an extended range of sizes and lengths.

There are two options for you to identify the correct uniform size:

  1. Sizing set* – if your trust has purchased a sizing set of garments, you can use these to determine which is the appropriate size for you.
  2. Use the sizing guide and supporting guidance on how to correctly measure yourself, and what size garment your measurements correspond to.

*Trusts can purchase a sizing set of garments from the supplier as part of their initial bulk order. Wearers can use these to try on different sizes and select the most appropriate fit.

See our Downloads ▼ section for the fitting and sizing guides.

Essential tips for ordering your garments

Before placing your order, please consider these tips to get the right garment size and fit:

  • It’s important that you order the size that your measurements indicate you are.
  • Sizing up or down for a looser or tighter fit is not recommended because the garments are designed to allow freedom of movement and be comfortable during long shifts.
  • Ensure you have measured accurately before confirming your garment size.

Made to Order

If your garment measurements are outside the range available or if you have an occupational health requirement, you will need to complete a Made to Order form.

Please note: The person responsible for ordering in your trust will have to approve this and place the order using a specific Made to Order product code. You will not be able to complete a Made to Order form without key information such as the unique NHS Supply Chain purchase order (PO) number, we recommend that you speak with the individual responsible for placing your uniform order before completing a Made to Order form.

Ordering your uniform

Ordering NHS Healthcare Uniforms can be done through the NHS Supply Chain catalogue or through your trust’s own eProcurement system.

If your trust requires you to complete an order form or paperwork to order your garments, they may ask for a National Product Code (NPC) that corresponds to the garment in the NHS Supply Chain catalogue.

See our Useful Links section for the NPC Selector Tool – created to assist you with ordering. This tool assists with finding the specific code that corresponds to the uniform garment you require.

Returning your uniform

If you need to return your uniform, you will need to inform the person / team responsible for ordering, so they can report the return to NHS Supply Chain.

Please note: Made to Order garments are bespoke made for you, these cannot be returned, except in cases of a quality control issue.

Do you order on behalf of the trust / need more information as a trust superuser?
