Intravenous Cannula and Associated Products Awarded Supplier Day
On Thursday 15 October, NHS Supply Chain colleagues came together with NHS partners and suppliers at Newbury Racecourse for the first Customer-Supplier Day for the upcoming Intravenous Cannula and Associated Products framework.
Following a robust procurement process, the framework will launch on 1 April 2027, with an expanded range of clinically suitable suppliers. We are committed to supporting trusts through any required change and the event was a key focus to enable customers to transition as smoothly as possible.
The day was designed to give NHS partners direct access to all awarded suppliers in one place, enabling attendees to review products, explore the range available through the framework, and speak directly with suppliers’ clinical and educational teams. The day also provided an opportunity to discuss implementation plans, training requirements and supply resilience, helping trusts make informed decisions ahead of the new framework launch next year.
The event attracted strong attendance and generated many valuable conversations throughout the day. Early feedback has been extremely positive, with attendees from trusts highlighting the significant time-saving benefits of meeting multiple suppliers in one location. One attendee commented that although they had travelled several hours to attend, they “achieved in two hours what might previously have taken three days in the trust.” Another said “it’s been good to see all suppliers in one room, rather than having to see them individually which can be time-consuming”.
Attendees also welcomed the opportunity to compare products side by side, gaining greater confidence in future decision-making and ongoing use of the NHS Supply Chain route for IV cannula products.
We were incredibly pleased to bring key decision-makers and suppliers together in one room, enabling countless valuable conversations to take place over the course of a single day. Creating those opportunities for connection and collaboration was our primary objective, and the event delivered exactly what we had hoped for.
Liz Glover, Category Manager – IV Cannula
All attendees who completed the feedback survey rated the day either ‘Excellent’ (47%) or ‘Good’ (53%). NHS Supply Chain’s team will continue to review responses and identify opportunities to enhance future events across its category landscape.
A second Customer-Supplier Day will take place in Manchester on 26 November 2026, with registration numbers already looking very promising.
