Procedure Packs
The Procedure Packs framework starts on 21 June 2024, runs for 24 months and ends on 20 June 2026. There is an option to extend for an additional 24 months.
Overview
Procedure Packs are used throughout the NHS in both clinical and non-clinical environments for a wider range of medical and surgical procedures carried out within the hospital and the community environment. This framework includes most types of Procedure Pack including medical packs, stock packs and theatre packs including bespoke and national specification packs.
A Procedure Pack is normally defined as a collection of components used to complete a specific task. These packs generate both cost savings to the end user and efficiency benefits in comparison to picking components off the shelf.
There are two Lots on this framework:
- Lot 1: National and Standardised Procedure Packs
- Lot 2: Bespoke / Custom Procedure Packs.
The following Procedure Packs are available nationally via Lot 1 or as bespoke trust and/or ICS packs via Lot 2:
- Medical Procedure Packs, including woundcare packs, dressing packs, catheterisation packs
- Neonatal Procedure Packs
- Theatre Procedure Packs, covering Obstetrics, Gynaecological, General Surgical, Orthopaedics, Vascular, ENT
- Radiology and Cardiology Procedure Packs
- Supplemental and Instrumental Procedure Packs.
Please note that Ophthalmic procedure packs can be found on the Complete Ophthalmology Solutions 2 framework.
If customers have a bespoke pack requirement, they should contact their ICS Manager for support, advice, and guidance.
If customers are interested in participating in the development of the Standardised Procedure Packs and their specifications, they should register their interest with their ICS Manager.
A range of Purple Surgical Laparoscopic instruments previously distributed by Kimal PLC will be removed from the Procedure Packs framework. We are finalising the detail on this, but the intention is to offer these existing packs on our Minimally Invasive Surgery framework, where the packs are in scope. See our Useful Links section for further details.
Savings opportunities
Opportunities to adopt a National Pricing Matrix (NPM) will be reviewed post Go-Live which will allow savings opportunities for customers who are able to consolidate their purchasing.
Important notice – for stocked products only.
Following the move to Buy Price = Sell Price, new contract / framework prices will only come into effect when stock of all product at the old contract / framework price has been depleted.

- Helps infection control – all the necessary components are supplied to specification in a pre-sterile pack.
The packs can help with the NHS Lean agenda:

- Assists in the costing of procedures.
- Potential reduction in theatre time, as the risk of procedure overrun and overtime are reduced through shortened theatre set up time.
- Packs range from supplier generic to fully customised.
