Disposable and Washable Continence Care

This framework starts on 24 August 2026, runs for 24 months and ends on 23 August 2028. There is an option to extend for an additional 24 months.

How to purchase from the framework

Products available via our Stocked and eDirect supply routes can be purchased using our online catalogue or through your own purchase-to-pay system.

Following the move to Buy Price = Sell Price, new contract / framework prices will only come into effect when stock of all product at the old contract / framework price has been depleted.

Ordering samples

Product samples are available from some of the suppliers on the framework.

Please note that the decision to supply samples, along with the unit of issue, supplied quantity, time to supply and free of charge nature of any request, is solely the decision of the relevant supplier(s).

Requests for samples should initially be discussed with your NHS Supply Chain ICS or Community Engagement Manager. They will then work with you and the respective supplier(s) to agree requests and order on your behalf.

Product switching will be available following the start of the framework. Analysis will take place to highlight cost effective alternatives and to identify switch and rationalisation opportunities. If you are interested in further information about product switching, please speak to your NHS Supply Chain ICS Manager, Customer Engagement Manager or HDS Account Support Manager.

Information for Clinical Choice (ICC) will be available on this framework to highlight the clinical suitability of alternative products which could deliver savings.

Opportunities to adopt a National Pricing Matrix (NPM) will be explored post Go-Live which will allow savings opportunities for customers who are able to consolidate their purchasing. Sustainable opportunities

The following sustainable opportunities are available on this framework:

• This framework includes potential Value Based Procurement opportunities, including the use of sensor technology (for product utilisation monitoring) and patient-centred pad assessments. These products will be available to purchase on framework launch.
• A wide selection of washable/reusables (over disposable pads) are available ranging from adult and paediatric body worn products as well as bed and chair protection. These products will be available from Abena, Attends, Essity, GBUK, iMEDicare, P&S Healthcare and Sharon Services.
• We value collaboration on measuring the benefits of any of these opportunities and working with us to build case studies of successful switches.

Case studies

Bladder & Bowel UK: Guidance for the provision of absorbent products for adult incontinence. Consensus document regarding the provision of continence absorbent products for adults, to ensure all adults who suffer with urinary or faecal incontinence, undergo a comprehensive assessment, and have access to an equitable service.

Delivering Better Continence Care through Value-Based Procurement: A recent pilot in a UK community healthcare setting has demonstrated how a Value-Based Procurement (VBP) approach can transform continence care in care homes, delivering better outcomes for residents, supporting care staff, and improving system efficiency.

Bladder & Bowel UK: Guidance for the provision of continence containment products to children and young people. This guidance aims to ensure all children and young people who have not toilet trained, or have urinary or faecal incontinence, undergo a comprehensive, individualised assessment of their bladder and bowel health and containment needs and have access to an equitable service.

Disposable and washable continence products are used throughout the NHS in both acute hospital wards and for patients in their own home or a care home. Products are used for the containment of involuntary bladder and/or bowel movements, and we provide a range of products to support patients including bed and surface protection.
