Overview

The Multi Temperature Distribution (MTD) framework is designed to provide a tailored range of multi temperature food products, delivered directly to NHS trust sites from one direct supplier. The framework comprises chilled, ambient and frozen products.

These products are usually used by the following departments:

  • Catering departments / Chefs
  • On site retail outlets
  • Ward level food supplies
  • Procurement departments
  • Estates and facilities
  • Other departments responsible for the supply of food.

Key Features

  • The range continues to match NHS trusts’ requirements regardless of your trusts type, single or multi requisition points.
  • Our MTD framework offers a simpler sufficient range of products which includes all core products from the previous range offering stable national pricing and delivering value for all customers, whereas our Multi Temperature Food Solution (MTFS) framework agreement offers a more extensive range of products from a wider range of suppliers. By making both available we can meet the varied needs of the NHS.
See our Useful Links ▼ section for further information on our MTFS framework that sits alongside this framework.
  • Our product range includes options for specific dietary or nutritional needs (such as gluten free, allergen free, dairy free and vegan products), and products that represent the latest nutritional trends and innovations. The framework can therefore match the individual and varied needs of NHS trusts and suit the nutritional recommendations in the ‘Independent review of NHS hospital food 2020’.
  • By capturing the suppliers environmental, sustainability and social value strategies we can better contribute to the net-zero NHS targets.
  • Product switching will be run throughout the year in order to drive savings on this framework. We encourage trusts to contact their local Food Account Manager to discuss their requirements in more detail.

Product Information
The current range is reduced from 1,813 to 494 limited favoured products, commonly used by most NHS trusts. For customers who currently purchase through us, your Food Account Manager will have shared an impact and switch file with you. This provides suitable alternative switches via Multi Temperature Distribution plus your Multi Temperature Food Solution (MTFS) current suppliers, and transacted options for lines delisted from MTD. It also informs you of the best route to market. Your Food Account Manager will then source pricing once you have reviewed it.

See our Useful Links section to view the Product Matrix for further details of the products available on this framework. Please note most brands and pack sizes are not included on the matrix, as these are likely to change.
