NHS Supply Chain announces new Category Management Service Providers
NHS Supply Chain announce the appointment of its Non-Medical Category Management Service Providers (CMSPs), as part of the Operating Model implementation programme.
I am pleased to announce the awarding of these two contracts. Through these contract awards, we will be working collaboratively with our partners to drive innovation and implement a common model for excellence in category management.
The requirements on our partners is to ensure that the strategic priorities of the wider NHS are always our priority, as we focus on making it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

Following a successful, single procurement process, which commenced in April 2022, NHS Supply Chain awarded contracts for its Food and Facilities (including Office Solutions) categories on 11 March 2023, with the new contracts officially commencing on 5 July 2023.
Implementation of services will run from 1 April to 4 July 2023.
The two successful awarded CMSPs are:
Food category, has been awarded to Foodbuy Europe Limited.
I am delighted that Foodbuy have been awarded the NHS Supply Chain contract, this is a significant retention for us, and we are proud of what we have delivered during our first five-year term. The contract was won based on our passion for healthy, nutritious, and sustainable food in the NHS and our ambition to build on the strong base we have developed so far ensuring that patients, visitors, and staff remain at the heart of all our decisions.
We are excited to continue the award-winning Chefs Academy program, offering training to develop skills and culinary knowledge which to date has seen 200 chefs take part. We are looking forward to supporting the NHS Supply Chain as they implement their new Operating Model, and we are dedicated to continuing to bring insight, innovation and great value to the NHS moving forward.

Facilities (including Office Solutions) category, has been awarded to NHS North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC)
We are delighted to have retained and grown our service provider contract. I am incredibly proud of the NOE CPC team and our achievements over the last five years which have laid the foundations for this award. We look forward to a continued and closer partnerships within the NHS. I am confident we will bring our shared NHS values to the new NHS Supply Chain model.

The two external service providers will work closely with NHS Supply Chain’s central team and will support NHS Supply Chain’s ambition to partner more expertly and deliver greater value for the NHS.
The CMSPs will provide:
- Specialist category knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- Expertise in category management.
- Renewed focus and energy on supplier performance improvements.
- Support for strategic objectives including resilience, sustainability, and innovation.
- A culture of collaboration to support the development of best practice.
Each contract will be for an initial period of 45 months (excluding the three-month implementation period), with a possible additional 24-month extension, subject to contract performance.
