A Flavourful Finale to Chefs Academy 2023

NHS Supply Chain: Food’s Culinary and Dietetics team dished out the final two Chef Academy events of the year In November 2023. We celebrated three years of ‘Chefs Academy’ by cooking and demonstrating recipes from our Culinary Concepts.

The Food Works, Bristol, on 15 November 2023 Collaborating with the regional Hospital Caterers Association event. We showcased our very first Culinary Concept, ‘Khana Khana’.

Showcasing and cooking recipes from our Khana Khana and Roots Kitchen Culinary Concepts.

The two events were full of live demonstrations, hands-on cooking, expert speakers, networking and more, providing NHS Chefs and Culinary members an opportunity to experiment with products from NHS frameworks, try delicious recipes from a range of culinary concepts and learn invaluable skills to take back to their own kitchens and trusts.

Lots of new information about the NHS Food strategy and nutrition. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and being able to interact with other trusts and share our experiences.

Objectives

• Teach new culinary skills through a practical, hands-on learning approach.
• Provide added value and Inspire NHS chefs by introducing members to new, tasty recipes and show how NHS Supply Chain: Food Culinary Concepts can be adapted and recreated within their trust.
• Give insights into the National Food Review and the mandatory NHS food standards.
• Understand the importance of nutrition and dietetics within hospitals.
• Foster discussion and collaboration with other NHS chefs to create great food, while also providing the opportunity to share best practices.
