The Benefits of Compression Wraps

Simon Hall, National Clinical Engagement and Implementation Manager at NHS Supply Chain recently spoke to the Nursing Times about the benefits of using compression wraps as an alternative to traditional bandages.

Compression wraps are a sustainable alternative to bandages.

Whereas traditional bandages must be reapplied and disposed of one to two times per week, compression wraps are machine washable and reusable.

This not only cuts down on waste for landfill, but also reduces manufacturing  waste and transportation costs.

Additionally, patients can apply the compression wrap themselves, therefore improving patient autonomy and also helping to reduce environmental factors, such as nurses travelling to patients.
