Using the UKCA Marking

15 July 2022
UKCA Mark - UK Conformity Assessed Products

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland).

It covers most goods that previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods.

The new product mark came into effect on 1 January 2021, however to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, the CE marking is still being used until 1 January 2023.

For the Northern Ireland market, a UKCA marking cannot be used on its own – please see the additional guidance.

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have produced extensive information, explaining how to use the new UKCA and placing manufactured goods on the market in Great Britain.

Medical devices
There is separate guidance for regulating medical devices in the UK to understand what you need to do to place a medical device on the Great Britain, Northern Ireland and European Union (EU) markets.
