Virtual Clinics Prove a Success for Orthopaedic Suppliers

This series of virtual clinics helped suppliers to understand how NHS Supply Chain: Orthopaedics, Trauma and Spine, and Ophthalmology (Category Tower 4) utilises the Total Orthopaedic Solutions 2 framework.

The sessions have proven to be a real success, with over 100 people from 43 different companies attending in total.

Khalid Shihadah, National Clinical Engagement and Implementation Manager, set up an open forum session, repeated over three months.

Invites were sent to industry personnel as a way of informally assisting suppliers who may be unfamiliar with how the Category Tower team uses data and its master catalogue – and how projects are managed across the NHS, by the regional orthopaedic teams and the business.

On the whole I think it was a great success. We had 109 personnel, ranging from sales, marketing, contracting, commercial and senior leadership, attend the three sessions. People on the call were engaged in terms of conversation and the discussion was helped by having cameras on.

I feel that they were worthwhile, so will hopefully look to set up more sessions in the future, using the same open format but covering other areas which may be of use along the lines of managing the catalogue through supplier variations, regulatory requirements and so on.
