NHS Supply Chain dish out new culinary concept, ‘Grab and Go’
NHS Supply Chain: Food’s Culinary and Dietetics Team have launched a fresh new Culinary Concept named Grab and Go, the latest addition to the Culinary Concept collection.
Since November 2020, NHS Supply Chain: Food have launched 8 exceptional culinary ranges, collectively known as ‘Culinary Concepts’, including Khana Khana, Root Kitchen, Bamboo, Hatched, Great British Dishes, Gustoso, Cakes and Bakes, and the latest addition, Grab and Go.
Each Culinary Concept is thoughtfully crafted by a team of experienced in-house Culinary and Dietetics experts to provide and inspire NHS Catering teams and Trusts with healthy, innovative food options that have been nutritionally analysed, giving everyone who eats in a hospital environment, whether a staff member or visitor, delicious meal options that are packed full of flavour and nutrition.
The brand-new Culinary Concept, Grab and Go, focuses on providing on-the-go, 24/7 nourishment to healthcare staff whilst improving NHS food and drink offerings including breakfast, lunch, and dinner with options like yoghurt, fruit pots, salads and more for all, including patients and visitors.
We are so excited to introduce a range of innovative and nutritious food options for healthcare workers whilst on the go, that will not only taste good but also nourish at any time of day.
Idrees Anwar, Lead Dietitian, NHS Supply Chain: Food
In the fast-paced world of healthcare, our cherished NHS staff deserve more than just a meal, they deserve nourishment that’s as readily available as their tireless service. It’s an honour to have worked on this round-the-clock culinary concept.
Michael Sharp, Culinary Specialist, NHS Supply Chain: Food
Over the last month, the Culinary and Dietetics team have brought the concept to life through a series of events across the UK. To celebrate the launch, the team hosted a concept showcase, inviting two key priority trusts to taste, discover more and provide first-hand feedback about the latest culinary innovation. The team received excellent feedback and were invited to take part in various pop-up events in Basingstoke, Solent and Greater Manchester Mental Health.
What an exciting day tasting the new Culinary Concept, Grab and Go, and hearing from the Culinary team on their latest innovations. I am thrilled about the new concept and am eager to join forces with the team to incorporate the concept into our trusts to better the foods provided for our incredible staff. The Feta Cheese Salad was an absolute winner, it’s delicious, fresh, and salty!
Ian Robertson, Catering Operations Manager, Solent NHS Trust
We really want to encourage our staff to eat healthy, nutritious meals that aren’t compromised on taste, and the culinary team have helped make this goal attainable with their new concept hosting a selection of fresh options that are perfect for on the go. I particularly liked the Quorn breakfast items and would love to take these on – they just add a new spin and offer an alternative breakfast that nutritionally benefits.
Rob Strachan, Head of Catering Services, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
This new Culinary Concept provides an excellent example of added value service and aims to enhance trust operations, elevating the patient, staff, and visitor experience. The Culinary and Dietetics team aim to continue the momentum and support throughout the new year and are ready to guide trusts through the new Culinary Concept and provide expert advice on how the concept can align with specific nutritional aims and goals.
